Interviewing Nicki Markus

I'm excited! This week, on Sunday May 24, I have the privilege of interviewing highly respected conservationist Nicki Markus. In front of a 100-strong capacity crowd at the Sydney Philharmonia Choir Studio for the Sydney Writers' Festival, Nicki will talk about her new book On Our Watch.

Nicki has written a well-researched, tell-all book that highlights the failures of those authorities tasked with funding and administering policies to solve our conservation woes. It is a confronting, yet inspiring book which can't be ignored.

"Our stewardship of this country's natural asset over the past two hundred years has been appalling, and on the current trajectory of careless environmental pillaging, further massive decline would be a certainty... The future of the environment is being decided on our watch."

Nicki is a conservationist, zoologist and writer interested in the role that the individual must play in environmental protection. She has spent 15 years at the frontline of Australia's environmental conversation movement, with the World Wildlife Fund Australia and now in her current role as chief conservation officer with Bush Heritage Australia.

Come and listen to Nicki Markus at the Sydney Philharmonia Choir Studio at 4.30pm on Sunday, May 24, for her ‘in conversation' with me about her book On Our Watch. This event is free so come early to ensure a spot.

See you there.
